I'm restoring my 85 k5 and need to remove the shifter knob to remove the floor pans. I try turning it but the shifter knob just turns. Just wondering if i need to get a set of pliers and try it that way or what. I would hate to butcher the shifter knob. :doah:
Thanks

if its a 208 i think you might be screwed, i was looking for one at a junkyard and tried poping the top off looking for a nut or something and didnt see anything in there, i just went to the next truck and that one just spun right off

i think you can get away without taking the shifter nob off, you can just take off all the bolts and just take the boot with it

I think I am going to have to remove the shifter from the transfer case from the linkage...the top of the cap has nothing on it and the whole boot/indicator assembly won't come off unless that shifter knob is off.
