We decided to hit the local trails today and the truck performed really good but did notice a whine on from the transfer case when in 4Lo, could it be because of the speed the gear permits you?? i mean i only drove no more than 5 mph and took the foot off the gas and the whine came in.

Heres the trails

I think the whine you're referring to is what happens when you are in 4lo and the vehicle slows down rapidly due to the torque caused by gear reduction. I think it has to due with the large amount or torque on the gear teeth and having miniature chatters.

A quick Google search yielded this : http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/corporate/about_us/technology/review/e/pdf/2004/16E_05.pdf

It is from Mitsubishi but the introduction pretty much sums up the universal principle of gear whine.

Gear noise when in 4lo is real common. It's the poping and grinding noises you have to worry about.

Great looking truck bro! Looks like ya had some fun! I'm pretty sure I recognize them lights of yours, LOL! :D Did ya get all the wiring sorted out okay?

On the subject of the gear whine, seems to me that some is normal, especially in low range, and especially when decelerating.

Yeah, without hearing it personally.... sounds like what you are hearing is normal.

Oh, and I am very jealous of your trails.

Thanks man, tried to send you a pic but my membership ran out...

Yeah i did get the wiring right i kind of like doing that type of electrical thingy's.

Ok so its a normal thing i was getting worried for a moment not in the mood to take the tc down and tearing it apart, besides never done it before and that shops down here where i live are bastards!!!!

Is that soo...

They dont seem that hard in a photo but they are steep, the first times i went i almost pissed my pants going up, theres 2 of them that scare me, not to sounf like a pussy but still, i respect gravety

Mp 208 whined like a blower in low range, but it worked just fine.

Wouldn't hurt to check the fluid level in the t'case, and maybe augment with some of that Lucas tranny/t'case snake oil for the feel-good factor...
