Transfer Case

I have a 88 K5 blazer and my transfer case is stock. I recently have been having problems with my auto locking hubs. Well I noticed a little while before that my trans case was leaking well my question is would the auto locking hubs not be working do to the fact my trans case is low on oil? How can I check and fill my transfer case with oil?

I don't think the transfercase has anything to do with the auto locking hubs, but I personally would change out the auto locking hubs for a set of Warns. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

The tcase being locked into 4wd causes the front drivshaft to turn and turn the front axleshafts which causes the hubs to lock.

Low oil in the tcase will not cause the front driveshaft not to turn so it has nothing to do with the hubs not working right.

Low oil will cause you to burn up tcase bearings and stuff though.

Yeah, throw those auto hubs at someone you don't like.
To check/fill t-case:
Unbolt the fill plug(located on the back of the case, they're two big plugs, one on the bottom is the drain plug and the one towards the top is the fill plug)
Fill with ATF until the fluid is level with the fill hole..

every time I buy a truck with auto hubs, They are the FIRST thing i toss!!

90% of the time i've seen auto locking hubs fail was because of grit, grime and dirt. Still all things being equal, dump them and get some manuals. For nothing else then the peace of mind. They work when you need them too and when you don't want them engaged they aren't.
