will the 208 transfer case that was bolted to a 400 trans. bolt up to my 700r4 trans?

nope.

700r4 = 27 spline input
th400 = 32 spline input
th350 = 27 spline input

A NP208 from a TH400 should also fit the later 4 speeds with the 32 spline output shaft--not sure if you'll also need the adapter for the 4 speed between the tranny & transfer case ..

You would need a 465 to 208/241 adapter, but that would work
