My Stock Transfer Case Hangs Low And dont give me a Lot of Ground Clearance I will post a Pic My Blazer sets on 33's so it aint THAT high But My Transfer Case is Killing What I Have. In Clearance That is /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Money Dont Grow on Trees /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I Really Want to Know why it sets Low I Mean Everyone says "oh its meant to be like that" But I dont think it is. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Get a pic that year did set kinda low. Theirs not much you can do. Check on ebay or in the for sale forums here for a use lift. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Similar setup ('86 body, '81 frame, '74 205 t-case, '80 something t-case skidplate, 33" tires, "HD" 3 leaf fronts/6 rears w/add-a-leaf to eliminate butt sag) and I just measured the other day.

I've got 11" at the lowest point of the truck, which is the t-case skid plate. Exluding of course the 10 bolt diffs, (which have 8" of clearance). 16" at the stock trailer hitch.

I have 17 1/2" under the lowest part of my T-case...4" lift and 36" TSL's. NP205.

Sounds like we have a bit of consensus on "underhang"! : )
Add all your mods to my measurements, take away the 1" or so of my skidplate, and I'd be at 17.5" too.

Interesting, never thought about it like that, (although its common sense) unless you move the t-case mounts, the amount the parts hang down is no different, just the distance to ground based on lift and tires.

Well I do know the 208 hangs down even lower than the 205...especially with a bolt on anchor...errrr...I mean skidplate/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm using a 208 skidplate/x-member, how can the 208 hang lower?

Of course I relaize that was one variation of the three used with the 208, but still...it came off of a 208 truck for certain, I pulled it.
Looking at that pic, with the skidplate pulled, think I could get 2" more clearance under the t-case? : ) Angle of the pic is a little bad, but almost looks like the t-case is higher than the crossmember!

The stock t-case hangs down to give the front driveshaft a decent working angle.

Maybe you can see about indexing (clocking?) your t-case and changing to a high-angle front driveshaft and/or and custom high-pinion front axle.

my truck has way more room under it then that
