hello heres a question i have a 85 k5 with a 700r trans and i beleve a np208 transfer wich i think went bad can i put a np205 in its place and what would i need to do it thanks ed. /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif
yes you can, but i think the adapter is like several hundred dollars /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif.. maybe try these guys /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif www.advanceadapters.com
or you could find a 2wd 700r4 and use a divorced 205 /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
You should be able to bolt it up but if for some reason you cant an adapter for it would be like $700. But like i said i dont think a 205 should just bolt up but stranger things have happened>
1)Either buy the shorter output shaft for the 700r4 and use a 205 and adapter off of a th350 (I think the shaft is about $160, but the trans has to be disassembled to install it)
2)Buy an adapter for about $60 and then just bolt the 205 and adapter from a th350 right in place.
The main thing is, you need to find a 205 with the adapter that was behind a th350 because the th350 is a 27 spline like the 700r4. Otherwise youll have to swap input gears in the 205.
You will also need a 205 shifter, new driveshafts and a new crossmember.
