Hi I have a 94 Suburban 1500 the retaining clip to the output shaft on
the transfer case has broke for the third time now, the guys at the
shop tell me this is a common problem the last time it went was about
6 months ago, I drive it conservativly , anyone know of good fix and is this
a design flaw of GM ?

Help

looks familiar

I can remember J C Whitney selling a similar dewhickey for SM465 tranny's that popped out of gear due to broken snap rings, looked like a split shaft collar with 2 allen head bolts to hold it together...I know a few people who used them and they worked slick, but they dissapeared from the catolog, and they said they couldnt get them anymore--dont know what the reason was, maybe someone had a problem with them and sued them or something??--at any rate,it was MUCH easier to pull the PTO covers and install that "snap ring eliminator" than pulling and gutting the tranny--I knew several people whose SM465's would pop out of gear when coasting downhill, and it worked for them..
