Ok so I went rock crawling again. I should stop because is makes me want to spend money. I have 36" Iroks and now want to go 40. That will put me a little under geared with my current 465/205/4.10s. Everyone says doubler but with the 465/203 being so rare and the doubler kit not being that cheap why shouldn't I just go with a lomax? It would take my 51 to 1 crawl to 80 to 1.

im not going to say dont go with the lomax... But if you do, then you only have 4 lo in one flavor. With the doubler you have have the regualar 2 : 1 and the 4 : 1.

either way you go, you will be a hell of a lot better off than where you are now :P

I guess the deal is I only have so much moneiz so I figured it would be far better than my 2 to 1 and I could always swap in a 203 range box in later. Other than the single range has anyone had bad luck?

I like the Lomax option. Imo, it seems like a nice cross between bigger reduction but still gives some wheel speed. Here in the southeast what rocks we do have are usually slimmy slick from the mud due to all our rain, this is why you see so many high hp, tire smoking rigs from our area. 3:1 seems like it would be just right.

That said, I do have a doubler but I bought it before the Lomax came out. Some day I want to add the Lomax kit to it and I expect to use 3:1 more than any other choice.
