Have you thought about going to a stick?

It seems like that would be a better long-term solution for you.

the only thing i want standard in is a sports car... and i dont want to cut a whole in my floor board and buy adapters and what not

I think that you may want to adjust your driving style. How are you trashing so many transmissions? How big are your aux coolers?

well i burnt two up in a two years one for each year... and the cracked one was an accident... and i got the stock cooler and a big tube auxilary cooler

What's your gear ratio? I've got 3:73 w/ 35's. Burned my old 700r4 up because it was overheating on the trail. I found someone local off craigstlist to rebuild it for $700 (labor) Told him what I was doing w/ the truck and he suggested all the beef parts that I had researched in old threads here.

Had him put it in and I added the Perma-cool trans filter that's tapped for a temp gauge + a Derale cooler w/ fan and bypassed the stock cooler.

So far so good...
W/ my ratio I only use od on the freeway. It cruises around town at 150-160 degrees, 180 when its hot, which is where the fan kicks on. We have a lot of hills.Towing my boat in town will get it up to 220. It's really nice to know whats going on.
Do a search, there's a mtn of info about how to care for a 700r, rebuilds and bowtie, tci etc

ive got 3.73 gear on 35's as well but the majority of my driving wouldnt cause much heat its like 10 miles one way and 10 back so its not that much time to creat alot of heat... ill admit im 17 and i got a heavy right foot... but the transmissions were both stock clutches stock rebuilds... has anyone heard anything good about the TCI 4x4 maximizer transmission?
