Thanks to the folks on this board I was able to adjust my TV cable to finally adjust my transmission the way it needed to be. I had the tranny shop fix the bang, but then they left me with a Blazer that wound out to 25 mph in 1st gear before it would shift to 2nd gear. I told them that wasn't acceptable, and they appeared to feel it was, but said they would tear it apart again.
I followed the advice here and now have it shifting where it needs to.
Thanks fellow Blazer fans!

If you're going to perform a compression test, don't forget to open the throttle. Otherwise you'll get a low reading. The rate of rise is also indicative of ring/cylinder condition. You might want to tape the short extension to the plug socket, as it can get stuck on the plug, and is hard to get off. If not mentioned before, consistency is more important than high number. Good idea to spray threads with WD 40 or eqivalent. To test for worn rings, as opposed to valves, sqirt a little oil (engie or trans, not imp.) into cylinder. If reading increases more than, lets say 10%, rings are worn. No or little increase might indicate burned valve. Good luck.
