Its been too long since I have dropped a t-case off. I need to do some work on my cases but can't remember if I need to drop the transmission fluid or not so not to take a bath in ATF when I split the two. It is a th400 with a 208 adapter onto a redrilled 203 for my doubler. Have a stripped out bolt on the 203 and puking oil out. :doah:

Yep, gotta drain the trans before you split them. @ least I had to with my Th350

I agree with draining the majority of trans also...mine is leaking between the trans and t/c adapter, so I'm sure if I pulled it apart it would piss on me.

Jack up the rear as high as possible. You wont have to drain the trans. It'll drain most of the fluid out of the adapter area. A little bit will still be there, no more than if you drained the trans anyway. Nothing that can't be caught with a sheet of cardboard and some rags, should prob use a drain pan though. But nowhere near enough to bath in.

I've had to pull my t-case several times and just jacking up the rear to tilt all the fluid to the front of the trans was enough to make it less messy. This was with a 700R4 and 208.

I'm sure most the fluid will be in the pan and converter. I'll just have a drain pan ready for when I break the seal. Thanks guys.
