Transmission controller question

How is a 4L80 on a 91 Suburban controllerd? Does the tranny have it's own ecm or is it wired into the tbi ecm? If it's a stand alone ecm, can I find one and use it to swap a 4l80 into my 90 Suburban? Same thing if it's attached to the efi ecm, can I swap that whole ecm into my burb?

All controlled via the ECM.

Yes you could swap the whole thing over. A bit of work, but certainly do-able.

Diesels were standalone controllers, and the aftermarket has them as well. For the cost, I'd just make what you've got work. Shouldn't be hard to add it to your existing setup.
