Opinion on external tranny cooler

Just FYI my 98 K3500 came with and internal and external tranny cooler from the factory as well as an auxilary electric pusher fan on the front of the tranny cooler side. I say use them both. Hook em up however's easiest :haha:
 
I had my 700r4 routed through my factory then the biggest b&m cooler they make (28k gvw comes to mind) without the fan, for some reason i thought it would be enough, at the same time hooked a temp gauge up to my tranny and it was still getting VERY hot, 220f+. I wish i would have gone with one with a fan in it in the first place for the tranny cooler, get a temp gauge so you can see whats going on in the first place and if you need more cooling or have enough or know when to quit. in my opinion, run it through the factory then an aftermarket with a fan you can toggle and install a temp gauge then run synthetic fluid, i have never heard of an auto tranny that is running too cool, especialy in arizona...
