Can anybody tell me what the thread/fitting size is where the transmission cooler lines thread into the radiator ?

I want to find a fitting with a 90 or 45 degree elbow so that I can thread the transmission line into one end of fitting and then attach a hose barb fitting to other end so that I can bypass the radiator cooler into an external cooler.

I think the internal cooler may have a problem like maybe being clogged and just want to bypass to my external cooler to eliminate the internal cooler as the problem.

I can tell you from experience that you want to keep the trans lines hooked to the radiator then go to the aux. cooler. The trans needs the engine heat to warm the fluid on those cold mornings. Cost me a bunch to find that out.

I agree that you are probably right. That is exactly the set up I have now.

Just want to temporarily bypass the intank cooler.

I am curious, what happened to your transmission on those cold mornings ?

I had installed a trans cooler, but had lost the rad. fittings, so I hooked it straight to the trans, no radiator hook up.
It was one of our rare single digit winter mornings (6 degrees), the wife got in the vehicle, cranked it up, put it in reverse and it just sat there. Well, she gasses it a few times, then gives up. That evening when I got home and it was considerable warmer I tried to drive it and nothing. I checked the trans fluid and it was black and thick as molasses. When I pulled the pan off the trans, all the clutch plates were in a neat little pile in the pan. The fluid was too cold to flow. IF it was still hooked up to the radiator, and IF she would have warmed it up, MAYBE the trans wouldn't have died.

yes fluid needs to be a spec temp to work correctly.

and 5/16 dubble flare like a brake line is stock tranny cooler line stuff.

I kinda wondered why my lines ran into the radiator then into the cooler then into the tranny. Never even thought of the heat warming the fluid. I hate autos but like having one in the one i drive everyday

I always let my truck run for atleast 10-15 minutes before i take off. Usually longer if colder
