Get a temp guage, huge cooler(s), and a remote filter, change the fluid and call it good for a while. These trannys die 99% of the time because they got to hot so dont let that happen. The biggest problem with heat is that the stock tranny cooler is in the same radiator as the engine coolant, you do not want your tranny getting any where near the temps of the coolant. I blew a head gasket on the original eng and the cooland got to 280+ and guess what it fried the tranny with it. Now I run dual tranny coolers (I do not use the one in the radiator) with dual remote filters, and a temp guage(never been over 160 in cali on rubicaon @ 100+ outside temp) cool and clean fluid are the key. As long as you have a reputable builder these things can go for a long time. I have three rigs with the 700r4, two with over 200,000 mi on original equipt and one with 100,000 on rebuilt tranny.
