Transmission Filter

Went to replace the filter on my stock 91K5 with a 4l60 yesterday. Is the filter just supposed to stick up in the bottom of the tranny? It is kid of loose and would imagine it could work its way out and fall out into the pan. Anyone else have this problem?

did you remove the old seal

it is kind of loose, but it can't fall out since it will rest on the bottom of the pan when its reinstalled

Ok, that was part of my question, it's ok for it to rest on the bottom? I wasn't sure if that prevented it from sucking up fluid. The seal is blue and ribbed, right?

Yes the seal is ribbed, just make sure you get the old one out and the new one in and you're good to go
