transmission floor cover

i have to take my transmission cover off, the one in the cab with all the screws around it to get to my hard lines on the trans, i was wondering how to take out the 4WD shifter without messing anything up. Is there anything i have to watch for like spring wise or anything like that? If someone could answer this question i would appreciate it!
