My 700r4 was rebuilt early summer, it is working great and has about 1200 miles on it. With winter coming it is going to see alot more use, figuring about 3000 more miles or so. Would it be wise to drop the pan and change the fuid now or go back to my usual of once a year in spring.
I do run a big cooler, and the temp hasnt gone over 160* havent even wheeled yet really. 5.13s and 37 military mtrs

Now seems Like a good time to pull the pan and filter and make sure there's no wear particles floating around the tranny. A trans guy once told me the fluid needs changed every 15 thousand miles to keep the trans lasting longer. That would be every two years for me with the mileage I put in mine.

Pull the dipstick and check the color of the fluid, if it is bright pink/red then it is probably fine, fluid will turn brownish as it wears giving you a good visual clue to it's condition. Unless you drive/wheel hard fluid will usually be good for 30,000 miles if kept cool. Again, your change intervals will vary with usage and you will never do harm by servicing too often.

Yep, I change all the fluids except the engine oil once a year regardless. Engine oil I change all the time, as I dont trust it.

I agree with the 15000 every change. but if it sits a lot once a year intervals arent a bad idea vs 2 yr . Fluid & filter way cheaper than a rebuild....

I do mine after 2 weekends of hard wheeling. If it starts turning color, it's past time, if you work it hard.

Yeah if it sits it will get gross faster. Luckily I hot me a 465 so I don't change mine but every couple if years either way. 80.90 lasts way longer. I need to do it now on all my fluids it sat for a few years now without a change.
