Hey guy's,

So I've been pretty busy over the last month or so but the leak under the Blazer has just gotten bigger and bigger, to the point is starting to creep out from under the hood. Finally got up under there today and looks like I have a transmission fluid leak. I tried to find a thread on the steps to take to troubleshoot and repair but didn't find much.

Any advice you all have would be awesome. I want to try and start doing repairs on my own.

Thanks for the help

Wipe down everything that has red fluid on it. Paper towels work fine and are cheap. Check your transmission cooler lines, both into and out of the radiator. Check all lines coming out of the transmission itself. Remove the flywheel inspection cover if you can. Check the pan gasket. After you've wiped everything down and double checked everything, take it for a quick drive. Come back home and slide a piece of cardboard under the truck and then check for leaks. You should be able to narrow it down a bit from there. Important part is to wipe everything down before hand, this allows you to find the new leaking fluid. It's time consuming but it works.

Has the engine not been started in awhile? Sometimes after sitting awhile the front seal will allow the torque converter to drain.
Always start high when looking for oil leaks. Remove the flex plate cover and look at the front pump if there is a nice oil trail from the center down the seal is leaking. New seal and bushing, front pump gasket and o ring.
When looking for oil leaks look for clean paths, oil will clean the area near it leaking from.
