transmission front pump removal:

It can, but if the choice is removing the engine or removing the transmission, removing the transmission is significantly easier.

absolutely can be removed in the truck, after removal of pan, filter, tcc solenoid, and if aux valve body model the tube that feeds the forward accumulator. thats the easy part!! keeping the input drum, reverse input drum perfectly in place without it standing fairly straight up is where your real problems begin. Short answer: if the engine is already , just yank the trans and work with it pump facing up.

Ditto.
Way harder and more frustrating to try and do it with it still mounted in the truck. For the extra time you would spend I would just yank the trans out.
