Hey guys I'm trying to make a desicion here about which transmission to run in my trail rig. I currently have a 700r4 behind my bone stock 350TBI. I'm pretty sure it's the original trans, the truck has 92k miles on it. It was shifting alright back when I was driving this truck daily. Now i pulled the np241 t-case out and I'm going to put a 203/205 doubler in its place. I was planning on either using the 2" spacer behind the trans or redrilling the 203 for 241 adapter.
Anyways, I also have two rebuilt TH350s sitting in the garage. Both are 2wd versions. One was originally in my 2wd k-5. It has 2k miles on it and has high performance clutches, shift kit, etc. The other one has 0 miles on it and it also has hp clutches, shift kit, etc. What's it gonna take to put one of those th350s in my rig? I know I could swap the output shaft for the 4wd version and then use a th350/np203 adapter, but that requires tearing the whole tranny apart, is there any other way? Should I use the th350 instead of the 700r4? I know i will lose some of the 1st gear range, but with 5.13s in the diffs and a 4:1 low low range, will it really matter?
Thanks for the help, just trying to figure this out while i have everything out
