Transmission help

I was driving yesterday and my transmission would not shift in to 3rd or 4th. i have a 1990 k5 with the 700r4. i recently built a np241 with sye.

first and second work fine but as soon as it goes to third the engine just revs and goes no where. whats wrong. is this a simple problem or am i going to have to get a rebuild?

Sounds like it's time for a rebuild. It's pretty common to lose 3rd and OD in the 700r4.

sounds like a rebuild is coming to me too. i just had the same thing happen to my TH400. the rebuild kit runs about 250 and isnt to bad to do yourself. i can give you a link to a site that has pretty good step by step instructions also

agreed. talk to a local tranny shop see if they have any ideas.

Probably a broken sunshell, VERY common problem of the 700R4 trans. If you do get it rebuild make sure the shop or whoever does it installs the Beast sunshell and all available updates.
