I have an 88 K5 and I'm having the transmission rebuilt i think I'm going with a tci kit any reason why I shouldn't or should go with this kit? Engine is a mild 454 and it will live most its life in the sand dunes so what's a good tranny cooler to buy looking to spend about $150 on it. Also what would be a good stall speed for the convertor? Thanks in advanced

I bought BTO's largest cooler kit they have. It's just a cooler, some length of hose, and hardware. With your other questions, I dunno.

I ran a stacked plate B&M for a while and it didn't cut it. I switched to a Tru-Cool 40,000gvw cooler and it did the trick. It makes a HUGE difference in transmission temps.
Being that you're down south you could just run it straight through the cooler and bypass the radiator.
That's how mine is plumbed and it stays really cool.

They're all over eBay but here's an example.

I went with a transpack and and transgo stage 2 reprogramming kit on my tranny. Works awesome. I bought a hughes 2500 stall lockup converter and i really wish i had more in the sand. But you have a big block and i have a 408 small block, so im not sure of where they will come in comparitively. I think i was told the more torque, the higher rpm the converter will grab at but im not quite positive on that.

Biggest tranny cooler you can find, some are even offered with a fan that is mounted to them.

On the converter, that depends on your gearing, cam profile, engine, blah blah blah. Whomevers converter you want, give them a ring and tell them what your planning on doing with it, and the specs, and they will get what you need. Converter guessing can be a real bummer if you get one you dont like, as the drivetrain has to be dropped and that sucks.
