transmission price questions

so my tranny in my 83 k5 started slipin bed, i put an add on craigslist and got one response, they guy has a th350 that has been rebuilt with aproximatly 5k on it he wants $450 is it worth the cost or what is the average price of a rebuild

the price is fair if its in the exact condition he says it is, that is very close to the price of having one professionaly rebuilt and getting a warranty though

ok iwasnt sure but i guess i will call in for some quotes i still have to have it shiped from anchorage to kodiak island so it might be cheaper to have it rebuilt

I would be very surprised if it cost more than $500 to have one rebuilt by a shop in your area

i actually dont think we have any tranny shops on kodiak but i am goin to honolulu in a few weeks and would take it there.
