My Dad has a 89 Blazer, 350 auto. Gas pedal has been kinda difficult since he purchased it a couple of months ago. It has gotten worse and the TV cable finally broke. I replaced the cable with a new one from LMC yesterday and after adjusting it, it doesn't want to shift. I have reset the cable several times. I got it to work like it should. Then after driving and letting set for a while and then getting back in to drive it won't shift again. Any help would be greatly appreciated?

(The transmission shifted just fine with the other cable in before it broke.)
I compared his cable adjustment to mine in my 89 and his is sticking out 3x more than mine is.

Have someone open the throttle to wide open position, hold at this position and adjust the cable so that it is as tight as it can possibly be at wide open throttle, test drive. You may loosen it a wee bit if the shift points are too late/firm for your taste, but just a little. If the trans still won't upshaft after this adjustment is correct, grab the end of the cable with a plier or vise grip and give it a half dozen good yanks to stop. The valve is meant to be self cleaning and this forces the valve through the bore.Re-connect, Re-test and post the results
