Started the truck, put it in reverse and it felt like I had locker bind while backing up. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I have no locker or limited slip and the hubs are free. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I put it in drive and start off to the office. Come to stop sign and then when I applied throttle the tranny would slip. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

If I shut the truck off then restart it it is fine for a mile or so, shifts normally with normal power then back to slipping. When slippage is occouring, it does so in all shifter positions including reverse. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Thanks,
Dave

I have a turbo 400 from my friend's truck (1990 4x4) How hard is it to retrofit??

Do I need to find an adapter for the transfer case or will mine work?

you will need the entire setup, the adapter will not work, its a different pattern on the tranny side. the tcase also is different, the output for the th400 is 32 spline while the 700r4 is 27 spline.

Your Torque Converter might be going bad. The Torque Converter may not be locking up properly, which is why it is slipping in all gears and not just one or two. Unfortunately when the Torque Converter goes out it can sometimes take the rest of the transmission with it, thus just replacing only the Torque Converter would not be recommended.

O.K. I can get a 241 out of an 88 1 ton for 500$ at the local wreckers. What else would I need to convert to turbo 400??

Is 500 bucks too much for that case???

Are the newer TH400's downshifted by an electrical switch like the one in my 442 or are they different?

500 is way high for a tcase. should be half that at the most. put an add up in the forsale section, someone should have one.

im not exactly sure of everything you will need, but i can help some.
oyu will need:
tranny, adapter, tcase, torque converter, kickdown stuff (not sure what is needed)
you may need drive shafts, but not sure. the crossmember you have should work also. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

That's too high for the whole setup!
