I've got a 98 Suzuki sidekick with a standard transmission. It's been really reliable and runs great. The only problem is that it's developed a pretty loud grinding noise. It shifts fine in and out of gear. the noise is most notable in neutral or in 5th. When in neutral, and same if I'm going down the road in gear, however if I press in the clutch the rattle almost completely goes away. Would I be right think maybe it's just the throwout bearing and not the whole trans.

Of course mine is the only model I can't find a service manual for:doah: I've never dealt with a standard transmission but I figure after working with all my auto's the stick should be easy.

I crawled under there this afternoon and looks like the whole tranny should come out fairly easy. There doesn't look like there's anything in the way. I guess I'll pull it this weekend and start with a new clutch kit and go from there.
