Today I finished my 14 bolt orb, and went to take a test drive. I checked all my fluids as it had been sitting etc, and found the tranny fluid low. No prob filled it to the correct level and off I went. No issues shifting etc, but when I put it into reverse I got a fairly loud rotational ticking noise coming form the tranny. It only does it in reverse, but it gets faster and louder upon acceleration. Curious if anyone would know off the top of their head what it might be. Its a 700r4 with a 208 tcase. I had planne don pulling the t-case out because the adapter is leaking fluid from the tranny to t-case but now I may need to do more.

Does it make the noise at a standstill in reverse or only when moving? Is it a loud tick like a small hammer on iron or more of a buzzing noise?

More of a loud tick, iron like. It only does it in reverse and seems to slightly quiet down when increasing throttle.

I'm hoping you checked/filled the tranny fluid when the tranny was warm, otherwise you may have overfilled it.

Yeah that not an issue! It was warn and running. It has a leak at the adapter that I already knew I was gonna have to fix, this is a different issue.

Just thinking out liud but are you sure it's your tranny and not the rear orb or u-joints?

Yeah positive. It will do it even when not moving and tranny is in reverse. When in forward gears its not there either. Im gonna remove the inspection cover when I get back and check the converter bolts and check for a cracked flex plate also.
