I bought a 1983 K5 that was converted to a 2 wheel drive. It still has the front hubs and differential, but no transfer case or four wheel drive transmission. It has a 350 motor in it. What kind of transmission and transfer case would be best to put in it.

Best is subject to interpretation, i believe it originally came with a 700r4 and an NP208.

As said, a lot is personal preference. Do you want an auto or manual transmission? As for TC, people around here like to run the 205 because its a little stronger and the SYE kits for 208's are limited but 208's have slightly better gearing.

I'm not very much on the mechanic side. All I know, it has a 350 in it that is not original. I do want auto and overdrive, and a transfer case with it.

The easiest route will be the 700R4 and the 208 tcase, as they were the factory original option. You will also need drivelines.

I'd have the front diff checked to make sure it is still in good working order first.
