hello all, so the 700r4 went out in my k5, now has anyone ever swapped out the 700r4 for a th350, what all would be involved in the swap? i have heard i would need a different tcase is there any thig else?

Well if you will use a th350 with the same Tcase, you need the right adapter.
I have the adapter but not the th350.
It's about 1.25" thicker than the one you have to accomodate the longer shaft on the th350.
Other than that, my question would be WHY?
The 700 could be built same as the 350 but you will have the Overdrive, why lose that?
Now you tell me you want to go th400, I say you have a reason, it's stronger so it's worth losing the OD.
By the way I have that one too.
 
well i would like to keep the 700r4 but it is shot and and with no transmision shops on kodiak island where im stationed i am forced to either ship it to the mainland and get it rebuilt or go with the parts availible, currently i have a th350.
 
I have been told that you can use a 2wd Th350 and cut the output shaft down to the proper length as well. When I did the swap I ordered the output shaft to use with the TH700 to 208 adapter.

I have not verified that the 2wd shaft will work so do some more checking on this if you end up having to go that route
