for those of you who installed a transmission temp. gauge where did you mount the sending unit if your trans never came with a place...

my turbo 350 never came with a port for a sending unit...to my knowledge or did it and i have not found it yet...

thanks in advance

Dont use the test port. It will eventually read the temp, but takes alot longer as the fluid doenst circulate as much. The test port was meant for pressure testing, not temp. I had mine there before I put in the muncie, but if I was running a permanent setup, I'd have gone with the pan. I think you can buy aftermarket pans with the temp bung installed if you dont want to drill your existing one. Most aftermarket pans also hold an extra quart or more of fluid.

Mine is in the cooler line. Is that wrong? Where b&m said to install it.

The return. The said then you can evaluate if the coolers keeping up.

Thats where mine is. Only worry is leakage for me.....but oh well. The trans guy put it there, and i trust him .

problem is I have a body lift and have lowered the t case by 1 inch, the hadr lines would not reach ...so I went with rubber hose type transmission lines...the sender needs to be grounded...duhhh

so I am going to go with a new pan from B and M..that has a hole for the sender...this should hopefully solve the problem

I have a 2pt oversized aluminum pan and I drilled and tapped it for the sending unit.. Works great! Runs around 160 degrees.
