I swapped a 6.0 and 4l65e out of an 08 into my 86 k5 and am Trying to finish up this project and have begun to take my truck out for short drives in town. Last week I took it to Lowes about 3 miles away and everything worked fine until I got about a block away. I got stopped at a light and when I went to go I had no forward movement, just high rpms. I was able to manually shift it to get to Lowes and when I left it shifted fine until I almost got home.
I noticed I had the cooler lines backwards into the cooler and figured I would start there. when I pulled the first line the fluid was pink like pepto. So I flushed the transmission and changed the filter. I just took the truck out again yesterday and had the same shift issue. Fluid looks good now and is full but after a couple of miles of driving the same issue started. No movement in D but could manually shift.
Anyone know what causes these symptoms or have any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting? Not sure where the pink fluid came from...I pressure tested the radiator and it is not mixing there. I am thinking that when the transmission shipped it got water in the torque converter or something.
Almost forgot, when I first started running the truck I got trans codes for the 3-2 shift solenoids. I ended up clearing those codes twice before ever moving the truck. The last two trips, I got no codes.
