how can you tell what year your transmission is?i need to know so i can get the right rebuild kit.
this is not the stock tranny.i baught it from someone who wasnt sure what year it was..

Look at the pan shape and do a google image search. OD trans or just a 3 spd?
700R4, Th350, Th400 are the normal autos. 700 is a 4spd others are 3.

its a 700r4 k case but i need to know the year

Im not sure on year determination man. Somebody should chime in somewhere, but I think there were only two eras for the 700's. I believe around 84 was the year GM made some changes internally. Not sure if the aftermarket is the same.
