so you guys warned me that my torque converter might hit the flywheel before the studs slide into place.. so how do you get the torque converter the rest of the way in? i tried turning it and pushing it and neither one worked... help?

P.S there are two electronic plugs coming out. one is on the trany and one is comeing out of the t-case. its a 208. whats are those for??

Just keep working it. Turn it and push it and turn it and push it. Try to lift it a bit while you work it.

good luck,

IIRC there will be two positive seating events while you turn the converter and apply a little bit of pressure on it. Don't want to push too hard, just light pressure on it as you rotate.

When I was messing with the auto's, when the converter was fully seated, you could barely get your fingers behind the converter at the bottom, where the pan seals. I don't know if all GM transmissions are like that or not.

i can see the shaft behind the converter, about 1 1/2 of space between the back of the converter and the trany. so i will try again tomorrow. anyone know what the two electric plugs are? the one on the trany might be the spedo but whats the one on the t-case?

T-case has a 4WD light switch, one on the transmission will be something like TCC (If TH350C/700R4) or kickdown solenoid if TH400. No speedometer provisions if you have a transfercase adapter bolted to a transmission.

so i dont have to have anything pluged it to use it? i dont need a spedo or a light or anything.

Take pics and post them and we can verify 100% what they are and if you need to do something with them.

The one on the case is most likely the 4wheel drive light. Is it a 700r4 trans and the wires got to the driver side?

the one one the t-case most likly is a 4x4 light but the trany is a th400. i will get a pic today.

its not a switch its a electrical plug... but i might have just imagined it.. it was really late.

Yes, that is for the kickdown. I guess you would be better off to call it a sender rather than a switch as the switch is attached to the gas pedal.

Yes, that is where the kickdown goes. I don't have it hooked up on mine and it's been that way for 6 years. I had the stuff to hook it up but tossed it.

you need to have the torque convertor on the shaft all the way before you start to mate the engine and trans together.

yea the question was is there any tricks to getting it on.

There are 3 engagements on the torque converter, turbine shaft, ground sleeve and pump. The pump can be the most difficult, if you have pressure toward the transmission you might be turning the pump gear with the torque converter making it difficult to align. If you don't line up the pump gear and the torque converter when you pull the trans to the engine you can break the pump.
