I was wondering what is required to retro fit a 86k5 that I beleive has a 700r4 with a 350 turbo? Is this a good idea?

NO. its a bad idea. the 700 has an overdrive and lower first gear. better fuel economy and better low end power. the 350 is not any stronger. you money is better spent on a good rebuild. some people will disagree with me, but overdrive is really sweet. you can run taller gears and not run at 3500 rpm on the highway.
