Looking to get a set of bilstein 5150's for a 6 inch lift. Pretty much street drivin and mello trails. What is recomended travel for stock mount location. Thought I read somewheres 14 for frnt and 10 for rears. Also, can you request specific valving. If so whats recomended for a smoother ride. Thx.

If you haven't moved the shock mounts, the fronts shocks are much shorter. For a 6" lift, the rears will need to be 12-14" travel (you should measure anyway, but especially before trying the 14" travel ones). Before you buy shocks, do a quick read on Ford shock towers. You might decide to do that mod and get the longer shocks in the front as well instead of regretting the short ones later.

As for valving, I've only seen two choices off-the-shelf. There's the 255/70 (medium) that you probably want and the 170/60 (light) which is usually for dual-shock installations

You would have to upgrade to a rebuilbable shock in order to change the valving.

Its a worthwhile upgrade but the Bilstein 5150 will be a good shock for you.

I'm assuming travel is the measurement of the shaft of the shock at full extension. Correct? Just curious what I have now. It appears to be 13 in the rear.

Shock travel is the distance between fully collapsed and fully extended (how far the shaft can move). You need to measure installed length (distance between the mounting points at the upper and lower) then it would be ideal to flex the blazer and measure the distance again both on the droop side and on the extended side so you know how long and short the shock can be (obviously do this with the shocks removed).

There is more to this and I can better explain if you called me sometime (I called and left you a message a LONG time ago and you never returned my call).
