TRE question, different shape, same taper.

I have a few of the same number TRE's, different manufacturers. One has an hourglass shape with less taper engagement, the other has the full taper all the way to the socket. Anybody know what the deal is?

It's a 2010L if that makes a difference.

This is all I could find for pictures without boots on em. The lower pic shows taper all the way to the socket. The oddball one (no picture) the taper stops about 3/4ths of the way, and necks back down towards the center of the socket.

The odd one sounds like the one most poeple are using on their pitman arm. I figure it necks back down to get more angularity out of it. It will definately twist more than the other ones
