But this time it's on my sister's dodge, not mine.
Started Friday night by pulling the bed and getting stuff ready to work on Saturday. Worked all day yesterday and this afternoon to get it where it is and back on the road so she can go to work tomorrow.
Found these air shocks and the lines were looped together so I got the bright idea to try them out. The air lines were tiny and fit into the nozzle on my air gun so I gave them a little shot and nothing happened.... so I gave them a BIG shot and well, I blew one of them up.
Sooo Friday night I went to Autozone and my dad and I bought her a set of gas charged gabriel's for the back.
Here's some pics of where it started. Someone thought they'd pull it out apparently.
A few well placed cuts and it was apart...
I had a hunk of donor cab that I mapped out where we cut onto. I cut the outer skin off and started the ever so fun cut, test, trim, test, trim, test game.
Got it in place and made a few good tacs then went through with a cut-off wheel and put a thin slice between the tacs so when I ground it all down later I wouldn't be grinding all the weld off.
Here's where it sat Saturday night. I ran out of flapper wheels so I finished the rest today.
After more grinding with the flapper wheels and a skim coat of bondo here's where it sits...
My number one priority was to make sure the body lines were good because that'd be the first thing that would catch people's eyes. I'm not ultra happy with the door gap but after about an hour of adjusting I couldn't get it any better so I'm thinking it's just tweaked from the crash and I gave up. But for a free driveway job she was pretty happy with the whole thing.
She called a local paint shop and they quoted her on painting the whole truck so after I finish a couple other little spots she's going to take it down and get the whole truck painted.
Oh and I hate sheetmetal and am so freakin' tired of tac, move, tac, move, tac move.
