I am picking up a np208 t-case to replace my stock worn out one. Supposedly has 20k miles on it.

Anyways, for a stock replacement on my 87 k5 (700r4/np208) I need it to have a 27 spline shaft from the trans. Correct?

Anything else to look for when picking it up?

27 spline input is correct for the 700r,make sure it goes thru the gear range smoothly and check the oil for burnt smell, discoloration and debris.

I like to work them through the gears and spin both outputs in every selection to make sure they spin ok. Also check the case closely for cracks.

And 27 spline is correct.

While locating an NP241 for my Blazer I also learned that the input shaft for the suburbans was larger than the Blazers. I don't know if that affected spline count or just the overall shaft size. Two t-cases look identical sitting next to each other but the shaft size was different. I don't know if the same is true for 208's.

You might PM Brad (63chevyII) He is fairly well versed in these t-cases, he is who I got my 241 from.
