Can somebody look at their rig and tell me if the side trim pieces are dead even at the top of the body line?

Or is there a small amount of the body line still showing above the trim line?

Or if you don't have the trim on, can the take a picture and /or measure the distance from the body line to the center of the trim retainer hole?

Thanks

I don't want to drill the holes till I know for sure...and it looks like their might be different sized holes all along the way from the rear, through the door and into the fender?

could be, depending on clip/attachment method...

Complete trim all the way around with fasteners is going to be around $400

Chief, I don't want to tell you to do anything different than what you are doing, but consider for a minute not drilling holes.

I think most, if not all, the factories have quit drilling holes for trim.
They have discovered that no matter how well coated, the sharp edges of the holes combined with the vibration of the fasteners wearing away the coating caused rust problems.

Of course, the factory was able to redesign the trim to work well with glue. You don't have that luxury, but examine the trim carefully and you might be able to work something out.

Naturally, double check with the master before making major mods like that.

The LMC kit shows a combination of screws and retainers...the 90% of the the trim between those points use the retainer with the sticky back...I can live with that.
I have already drilled the holes for the Cheyenne badges because they are heavy as crap...
The chrome and black trim isn't heavy...the fenders already have the holes, the doors already have the holes, it's just the new quarters that didn't and my NOS tailgate didn't either...it was for a CUCV...

Chief my 76 has some trim slightly below the body line, and some pretty much level with it...quality control in 76 wasn't a high priority.
Perhaps this illustration manual could help...

Yeah...even the Blazer on Jaws which was fresh off the dealer lot had terrible body lines and trim alignment....
I guess it really doesn't matter so much if it's even or slightly below the body line as it does that the entire run is level.

just pick a line and make it pleasing to the eye!
Is there any wiggle room with the trip clips?

Well....then....today is your lucky day. I wouldnt give this to just anyone...but your the type of guy who can really appreciate this. I have...a complete set of blazer trim. NOS..the real gm stuff. I think it had the fasteners with it too. It had K5|blazer (the 73 /74 style) and cheyenne emblems too...but I used those. My dad and one of his buddies both are retired GM...his buddy got this set Internally back in i think it was 75 for his i think it was 74 blazer..someone hit him in the door i think so the set is missing one piece he used...other than that..its A full set...i believe wheel arches fasteners and all. If you want it..and its correct for your truck...ill give it to you. It was given to me.....the only condition would be you need to actually use and not just sell it or something.....

Wow...I would be willing to buy it...can you get an inventory of the pieces so I know what's there?

How were you able to keep it all these years?

Nope, it was given to me so I'm happy to pass along the bonus effect.
My dad's buddy gave it to me back in oh, 98 or something, he just wanted it out of his garage, he'd been keeping it all those years. I just kept it in my garage, I was gonna use it, but with the way I did my truck, I felt it kinda a waste to use the really nice NOS pieces, and I plan on some moderate off-road, so they'd probably get all scratched and dented anyway.

Yeah, I can get an inventory, but not until Friday morning probably. I'm out of town on business until Thursday night.

PM me when you can and we can work out the shipping...if you still want to do this I promise you I will use the real trim. Maybe I can pay it forward with something.

where is Craig Artzner anyway? he's been mia :dunno:

Crap! I'm so scatter brained these days I forgot all about this.
ANyway,
So I took the box down and took it all out.
Well, my apologies, but it looks as though it was not a complete set.
It looks like it was a complete side, and my dad's buddy used 1 or 2 pieces. I guess, not what I remembered.
Anyhow...you still welcome to it if you want. It is genuine NOS. There's no part numbers on them, and the box is very old and was generic anyway, knowing my dad I'm sure he had some guy just walk the line in Flint and grab some pieces.
There are all 4 wheel arches anyway.
Anyhow, here's the pieces and fasteners: (click the pictures for the large versions)
