00' Silverado V6 4x4, reg cab

140,000 miles, been driven across the country twice.

Problem that I cant figure out...

Once I slow down (into first gear) after going highway speeds...everytime I accelerate after that it slams into second gear.

now get this...if I shut off the truck for like 30 seconds it goes away
Anyone heard of this?

I have No idea!!! Is it an electrical/computer thing or a mechanical/tranny thing? Should I just run it till its dead and swap in a 350 60/70?

Thanks

im not a tranny tech but solinoids?

I see no reason to rip a truc apart just because a mechanical issue has you stumped. have you checked for codes?

you could be running into a NVH quirk, there are some things written in to the code to get the trucks to pass noise and they change the shift points a little so that they can pass so that could be the problem

check your fluid level and condition, tranny could be getting hot from running at highway speeds then when it cools down its good to go, but aslo like they said, could be sticking soleniods

disconnect your battery for a few minutes and see if your computer clearing itself changes the shift patterns back
