Ok so my truck has sat for a bit. not too long but just went to go start it and it isnt starting...
so i popped the hood.... the glass fuel filter is not filling. I removed the one end and fuel comes out the line so flow is there. I am gonna guess I need to remove the front bowl and clean it?

any suggestions on before I do this hoping there is a quick trick to clean whatever is stuck????

If the filter is not filling but you have fuel flow at the inlet hose I'd say the problem is with the filter.

filter removed and still issue... it is this filter..
which I put a new one in...

oh yeah.. if you take the hose off the carb.. turn the key.. fuel FLIES out thus going through the filter....
im thinking gonna have to pull the front bowl!!!!!!!! ugh... no time.. working on my basement

dunno what did it but I took the front of the carb off.. made sure the float moved and removed the needle block??(is that what it is?) also took the jets off and blew through them.. all was clear..

put it back together and viola... fired up.. runs like sh1t though but hey.. runs...
step 1!!!! :waytogo:

Exact same thing has happened to me, holley truck avenger, truck sat a few months, fuel gets to the carb, confirmed spark, no start. Unfortunately I just found this out last weekend and haven't looked any more into it.

Stuck float? Not really it's the needle and seat that let's the fuel in and the float move... or floats in fuel.

This seems to be an issue with Truck Avengers but can happen to any carb.

Tapping the float bowl with the plastic end of a big screw driver, near or on the needle and seat can sometimes break it free without float bowl removal.

ok so instead of starting a new thread.. thought id ask here..

Project: "Get Through Inspection"

so i went out after getting the truck running... and decided I am failing emissions by 5 x allotted number... 300 raw un-burnt fuel (PPM) is the max and im at 1550 and higher...

anyway... I decided I would adjust the carb by taking out the stock 68 jets. I took the front bowl off and no fuel came out... so seem it always does this. I have that glass fuel filter and when I turn the key on (electric pump) runs, fills filter and then the bowl so I have to wait 20 seconds or so and I can hear the pump noise change as if bowl full of fuel now.

Q set 1.
what would cause the bowl to empty out? I dont see it leaking on the manifold or anything....

2nd.. thought the 68 jets were still in it but I took out a set of 66 jets so I went 2 smaller than stock. so I put in 64's hoping that is better as they are smaller... if not im gonna go into the 50's to get through emissions...

with that the air fuel screws factory are to screw in all the way then out 2.5 turns and adjust accordingly. I think with the 66 jets I was sitting at 2.75 turns out and now with the 64 jets I am sitting at .75 - 1 turn out... she is running and sounds pretty good not like it is lean or anything. Cant drive it yet as I am waiting for an online junkyard to get me my hydro clutch reservoir.

Q set 2.
what size could be obtained as the smallest in a truck avenger?
My uncle races cars and said 68 seemed HUGE to him in a stock carb but I showed him the manual and it shows 68's. Also when I bought the 64 jets (never put them in) the shop which is a race shop asked what size was stock.. I said 68 and the dude was like.. GET THE EFFF OUTTA HERE.. NO EFFIN WAY.. so he looked it up and it was and he was shocked...

now I had this truck pass emissions twice with stock jets but I forget if that was before or after the vortec heads and comp cams xtreme 4x4 cam.
Cam is not radical so shouldnt hurt...

Looking at this link shows jet sizes for holleys and they range all over the place just looking at 600cfm they are from 63-67....

cam specs 12-409-8 - .458" lift 1000-5000rpm power range...
Hydraulic Roller-Strong torque, good mileage, for stock to mildly modified engines.
