It's been a long 2.5 years, but I finally got the wheels and tires on it to complete it and took it for a drive...it was miraculous. Drove smooth, engine ran great, no shimmies, rattles, funky behavior - nothing. It was awesome.

I never had time for a build thread, but I took a lot of pics along the way so that maybe I could do it retroactively. But it's nothing you guys haven't seen before. It's just great to get back behind the wheel. Still have to put the back glass in it and put some tune-up parts on, but otherwise done.

I just wanted to say thanks to you guys for making me spend way more time and money on this than I had planned. Seriously though, thanks to the brotherhood for the help you provided directly, and for the archived data I used often when I had questions. And finally....the finished product:

Thanks guys. It started as a mild build to swap in the one tons and do paint and body, but it kind of snowballed. Interior is competely restored, all new weatherstripping, tons of other misc hardware and 'might-as-well' type stuff. I'm very happy with the results.

Good looking truck. Congratulations.

I had to look up the word "DONE". Never understood what it meant.

It does! And it's no show truck, but it definitely seems to be a head-turner. I also get that 2 tone isn't for everyone, but 12 years of all-white got pretty old. It's a definite improvement in my mind.

I'm diggin the two tone.

What size wheels & tires?

and we need more pics :D

Very fine looking rig! I couldn't tell from the pictures, is that a stripe or molding separating the colors?

A build thread.

Martin

Yeah, I know. I work out of town a lot and have a family so the precious spare time I had, I would spend on the truck. Gonna try to work on a build thread now that it's done...or at least roadworthy again.

Thanks. It's a vinyl 2-line pinstripe. The silver was a good subtle color and matched the other chrome/aluminum/stainless parts. The paint "break" was just too plain so I bought an $8 roll of 3M tape. I think it works.

engine, suspension, interior.....everything not pictured really :D

I can post some when I get home. I'll try to hit the highlights. Eventually, if I can satisfy Martin's request, you'll have a couple thousand pictures to look through.
