about a month ago ever so often i will have my wheel turned and put it in reverse and it dies. kapoy! i dont know. I need to check the power sttering fluid tommorow because its been raining like nuts the past 3 days so i havnt had time. any ideas?

sometimes it does it in Drive to. its an automatic 700r4

the pump drags a lil when it is pushing fluid.then when you put it in reverse the torque converter drop rpm a lil more then it dies.you may need to bump up the idle a bit to keep it goin.rvrn 100 rpm may make the difference.

You can but shouldn't need to. There might be a broblem with your Idle air controll motor or circuit.

the computer should sense that theengine is working harder and compensate for it.it should idle above 600 when idling and in gear to keepit runnin.otherwise it will more than likely do what it is doing.check for vacuum leaks.any codes?i dont have injection but the computer should compensate for the idle getting low and bump it up on its own.what does it idle at in park before you drop into gear?it shouldnt drop more than a couple hundred rpm at most once you put it in gear.there may be an adjustment on the throttle body to bump up the idle a lil to help.

steering column loose?
i had a vehicle that would do that when the tilt knuckle went loose, sometimes it would die just from a big enough bump.

its an instant die. and right before the steering wheel gets real hard to turn. im going to check the power steeering tommorow and put some lucas sto leak in thre because its leaking kinda bad.

low fluid would eob sme engine power and maybe kill it.i didnt think it would be that bad.the pump does use about 15 to 30 horsepower depending on how hard irt is being used.low fluid would make it work harder to push the same amount.addressing the leak will im sure help a lil bit.the fluid def souunds low and the pump may be dying if its been runnin low on fluid for awhile.make sure the pump is full of fluid.if low it may be your problem drawing all the power from the engine to turn the wheels.it just seems like it wouldnt stall the engine.but every situation is different.

i beleive i fixed it. the fluid was not even readable on the dip stick so i filled it up with some lucus stop leak(because its leaking bad to and it stiffend up the steering and doesnt die anymore LUCAS RULES
