Once my truck gets hot it turns off and has a hard time starting back up when it does it runs rough. It's not the fuel pump just changed it today. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Could be vapor lock,or the carb is getting hot enough to boil the gas in the bowl--unless its fuel injected, then I am unable to give a ansewr as I have practically no experience with EFI..it could be an ignition coil or other component is crapping out after it gets hot maybe..
Hmm, might check to see if the injectors are dribbling when you shut it down warm; I have a feeling that's not the problem but it's easy to check. Also might just change (for the cheap price) the temp sender by the t'stat. Check timing just to be sure. How is the battery?
need to isiolate between a fuel delevery issue or a spark issue. a few things got me thinking on which way I'd go on his..going back to the basics first and need to verify good injector pulse and good fuel spray pattern after first starting and while its warm and running bad. if it looks the same and pulse good i'd move onto ignition/spark troubleshooting. running rich, smell fuel when its running bad? verify spark on all plugs (might be a challenge when its hot). how are the plugs?
If you have dual tanks could be your tank select valve. I had the same issue and I just by passed the valve and am only using one tank at the moment but I no longer have that problem.
