So i went out Wheelin last sat and was having a good time. The mud pit was were my issue was. A month or so ago i went in it no problem, the long way even when i was out there with another fullsize. The mud was thick and sticky, went up to my doors.
So this time i was like ok im gonna just go across it on the edge since i didnt have a buddy to rescue. So i do and no issue get out and go up towards the rock course. Truck starts acting weird and sounds like it is missing, not idling very well. So i shut it off and check it out.
Mud all over motor, all over inside of hood. Well not actually mud. More like mud water. It was on the top of my air cleaner and a little on the sides so i pulled it off to check and the inside of my filter was dry and so was the carb. So i left the filter off and went in to start my truck. ( im gonna go to junkyard and grab a stock air cleaner with the side exit and make some sort of snorkle thing. Im not a fan of this open element crap)
Click, click, click, click. about 20 times. Great i thought now it wont start. So i get under and start smackin my starter with a rock. I hit the aluminum/ pop metal part of it and cracked a hole in and and mud came pouring out. And i mean a lot! I Noticed mud dripping from my tranny dust shield too and hit on that and a bunch of mud came out. It is plastic.
So after a lot of taps on starter, then taps on solenoid i got it to fire. Still ran odd, wouldnt hold idle. So i got it home changed plugs, sprayed carb nice and good to clean it out since it was fairly nasty from before, and it still was weird. Drove it to work and then back and it seems to be back to normal now.
But now i have developed a tranny fluid leak. It leaks out of the small hole in the bottom of that plastic dust sheild. About a 3 inch round spot whenever i park somewere. The fluid looks like it is either coming from the torque converter or the tranny shaft and dripping out and on the converter. I would imagine spinning and being thrown around the bellhousing then when i stop it flows down and drips out.
Never had a leak before this, so dont know if it is somehow related. I dont know what to check or what to try. Its my DD so i want to try and diagnose it before i drop my tranny and realize its gonna cost a ton and i cant do it right away. A buddy suggested Lucas Transmission fix. As it is known to stop seal leaks and may fix the leak... Since it is fairly small. Tranny still shifts great, not sure if my torque converter is cracked, or it was just a coincidence and now my tranny wants to leak.
Btw i replaced my starter and solenoid
Help lol
