i swear to the almighty im going to burn the damn thing. ok besides this happening its like 15* outside heres the deal.

throws a code 44(lean) if that has anything to do with this stuff

Well about a week ago the volt meter starts acting up (showing wrong voltage) tested with volt meter battery has 14volts then if i start it with some acc's on it drops to 12.XXv. good right?

about a week ago the throttle starts acting funny and every so often i press the gas to go and it takes about a second to go(wont rev) then catches adn goes, not transmission. so i guess you could say it has bad throttle response(usually happens hen taking off.

MAIN PROBLEMO: tonight, cold as balls mind you, driving in the snow driving ok, pull into driveway(flat driveway) and it just dies, and cant get it to start back up. Ran the battery down to low to get it started back up from cranking it so much. so now it is sitting in my driveway with bad throttle response, wont start(maybe starter) bad volt meter and wont start. it WILL turn over though, barely. help me please only vehicle and im pissed
*ok well i got it started, looks like it was battery terminals. NOW it is running very weird at idle. almost dieing when i shift from park to reverse drive ect. so how do i fix the idle

sounds like a dead fuel pump to me, same type symptons when mine died.

i always got a lean fault code when i had problems in the past.

ill try to get it to my uncles garage tommorow if i can get it started and running. im just so depressed and s*#% right now its not even funny. i was outside trying to push the thing becuase it was in the way of the saab so my stepmom will be happy in the morning since theres a big a$$ truck in her way.

anyway it could be egr, or 02 sensor?

The EGR could stall it,if it opens when its not supposed too,or sticks open,it'll be a huge vacuum leak via the exhaust and that can cause lean mixtures and stalling..not sure if a bad O2 sensor would cause stalling...it could have some other source of vacuum leakage..easiest way to check the fuel pump is to test the fuel pressure at the test port near the intake manifold--if you lack a gauge/tester,you can at least depress the little valve stem with the key on and see if any fuel squirts out (watch your eyes, and NO smoking during this test!)..it could be a fuel filter clogging up or water in the gas freezing up too..

This truck still TBI??

no test port / shrader valve for it either on those, involves removing the fuel filter and inserting the adapter with the pressure kit stuff inline.

So with the truck running, and accessories on, it has less than 13 volts? That is low. It should have at least 13.6v when running. TBI trucks require a healthly electrical system to run properly. Start by cleaning all your grounds, and change your battery cables if they are still original. I would get you alt tested too.

Everybody's ideas here are good.
I like the fuel pump a lot.
But, there is no way you should see any voltage that starts off with a 12 when its running unless you have large amounts of aftermarket stuff and a tiny alternator.

You said the volt meter started giving the wrong voltage.
High or Low?

Just about every symptom you have mentioned would be caused by a fuel pressure problem. Bad throttle response, stalling, hard to start, whole thing.

Which could also be caused by either low voltage or a bad pump.

You also said that you had run the battery down.
You can certainly run one down by cranking, but it should take an awful long time unless the battery was not fully charged in the first place.

Here is what you need to do right away. If you have a battery charger, hook it up.

BUT first, if you happen to have caps on the battery, who does these days? You need to pull them and look in.

A dead battery is almost water.
All the acid is locked up in the plates. Which means it will freeze. And you DO NOT want to try to charge a frozen battery.

If no caps, if it has the translucent sides, try jarring it with your hand to see if the liquid sloshes.

If all else fails, you probably need to bring it into a heated garage and let it thaw out before charging.

Quick and dirty idea, borrow a battery.
DO NOT use the Saab's, since she will lose all her memory settings.

Hook up a good, well charged battery.

If you have the intank fuel pump, get some one to help.
Take off the gas cap, put your ear to the hole.

Have someone turn the key to on, not start.
You should hear the pump for a couple seconds. If its a nice clean high pitched whine, that is a good sign
.
If it is lower pitched and has a grumbling noise, you may be looking at a pump.

Then, call your friend to help you get your ear unstuck from the gas tank nozzle.

After that, with any luck it will crank if you heard any fuel pump noise at all.

thanks everybody ill try your ideas tommorow, its just to damn cold here my truck looks like an ice cube. i checked the fuel pump and it sounds good. i can hear it power up when i turn the key so i guess thats a good sign just gotta check the alternator then see from there
