i replaced my thermostate with a stock 180 degree and for a little bit everything was going fine now the temp gauge does not read much over the 100 mark. except for when i come to a stop then i shoots up to around 210 then i goes back down when i start moving again.
this is on an 88 k5....thanks for any help

First off go get yourself an AC delco thermostat and get it 193, you will thank me later, your TBI doesn't like the 180 and the behaviour you get now is from a bad thermostat.
With the 193 you will get better mileage, you will see your guage at 205-210 once it's warmed up and stays there unless you have a problem in your cooling system.
