So 2 times today coming to a stop my truck just died. Both time it started right back up and had no issues at all. And i couldnt make it do it again on purpose. Any ideas?

Help us help you.

Year, model, engine, trans, carb or efi, factory or aftermarket efi, outside temp, wind direction, humidity, barometric pressure, tire size and brand, bench or bucket seats.

Just kidding on those last few, but seriously, we can't help without some more information...

89 gmc jimmy 350 this with 700r4. Also i just went outside to atart her up and now it wont evwn turn over. Battery and connections are good. My headlights come on but no dash lights orblinkers or anything.

Probably a bad/broken fusible link. Does the starter even click when you hit the key? Or just nothing at all?

Power going into the ignition switch...

Or the ignition switch itself. Or the mechanism between the key and switch.

Check the fusible links down near the starter. That is a common failure point.

Well i had a mobile mechanic come by as im srill new to working on cars myself. He says hes pretty positive its the ignition switch. He said the fusible li ks at the starter are fine and everything else looks good.

Maybe a vacuum leak? Mine is doing the same kinda thing right now but I did a hydroboost swap and I plugged the vaccum line that went to the booster but I need to plug it a little better because I'm sure I have a vacuum leak. Mine didnt die before the hydroboost swap and now it does.

That's the most common problem.
Usually it's a bad booster that leaks too much when the brakes are applied.
Happened to me a couple of times.
