I was swapping in a truck gate today and became curious. Does anyone know why the K5 has the factory holes for the truck gate? Was this at some point a factory option?
I'm going to say it was to save GM from having to produce a seperate piece specific to a K5. Of course this would have saved GM millions of dollars which means that much more profit in their pockets.
Well I believe on the K5's the hardtop was an option. I guess if you ordered no top or a softop (was one available from the factory?) you got a truck tailgate?

im pretty sure that you could order them with the soft top and they came with a tail gate. The 69-72 had just reg tailgates cause the tops were more like a truck cap
